lyrics analysis

LYRICS ANALYSIS of citizen soldiers and it’s not my time.
CITIZEN SOLDIERS
Beyond the boundaries of your city’s lights
Stand the heroes waiting for your cries
So many times you did not bring this on yourself
When the moment finally comes I’ll be there to help
And on that day when you need your brothers and sisters to care
I’ll be right here
Citizen soldiers holding the light for the ones that we guide from the dark of despair
Standing on guard for the ones that we’ve sheltered
We’ll always be ready because we will always be there
When there’re people crying in the streets
When they’re starving for a meal to eat
When they simply need a place to make their beds
Right here underneath my wing you can rest your head
On that day when you need your brothers and sisters to care
I’ll be right here
Citizen soldiers
Holding the light for the ones that we guide from the dark of despair
Standing on guard for the ones that we’ve sheltered
We’ll always be ready because we will always be there
Hope and pray that you never need me
But rest assured I will not let you down
I walk beside you but you may not see me
The strongest among you may not wear a crown
Citizen soldier On that day when you need your brothers and sisters to care
I’ll be right here
On that day when you don’t have the strength for the burden you bear
I’ll be right here
Citizen soldiers
Holding the light for the ones that we guide from the dark of despair
Standing on guard for the ones that we’ve sheltered
We’ll always be ready because we will always be there
Citizen soldiers
Holding the light for the ones that we guide from the dark of despair
Standing on guard for the ones that we’ve sheltered
We’ll always be ready because we will always be there.

The theme of this song is help: citizen soldiers help the ones they love and protect; they will always be there as said in the song, because there will always be someone to help.
It is an interesting theme because what is said in this song happens in real life: somewhere, someone needs help. Although not only soldiers may help, everyone can give a hand to someone else. In an abstract way, he is making the soldier and the citizen one: they have both the same objective which is to protect the ones they love.

IT’S NOT MY TIME

Looking back at the beginning of this
And how life was
Just you and me and love and all of our friends
Living life like an ocean

But now the current's only pulling me down
It's getting harder to breathe
It won't be too long and I'll be going under
Can you save me from this?

'Cause it's not my time, I'm not going
There's a fear in me and it's not showing
This could be the end of me
And everything I know, ooh, but I won't go

I look ahead to all the plans that we made
And the dreams that we had
I'm in a world that tries to take them away
Oh, but I'm taking them back

'Cause all this time I've just been too blind to understand
What should matter to me
My friend, this life we live, it's not what we have
It's what we believe in

It's not my time, I'm not going
There's a fear in me, it's not showing
This could be the end of me
And everything I know

But it's not my time, I'm not going
There's a will in me and now I know that
This could be the end of me
And everything I know, ooh, but I won't go!
I won't go!

There might be more than you believe
(There might be more than you believe)
And there might be more than you can see

But it's not my time, I'm not going
There's a fear in me, it's not showing
This could be the end of me
And everything I know

But it's not my time, I'm not going
There's a will in me and now it's going to show
This could be the end of me
And everything I know

There might be more than you believe
(There might be more than you believe)
And there might be more than you can see
But I won't go, oh no I won't go down, yeah

The theme of it’s not my time is life: he describes and explains how his life had been and repeats that it is not finished yet (that he has more to live) he explains that life can be bad but that it is not finished yet.
It’s interesting because sometimes, in real life, some bad moments may happen but we will always come back straight from our problems.

THE CRITIQUE comparison essay

Three Doors Down: a rock band that shows its talents. They made several albums, but their bests were The Better Life and Away From The Sun which respectively came out in February 2000 and 2002. Two similar albums but when we look at them, the differences appear. I have a preference for The Better Life even if I do like Away From the Sun. The comparison of sounds, music and popularity, of those albums show my opinion for them.
The sounds in an album are as important as the songs themselves. In The Better Life and Away from the Sun, the kinds of sounds are very different. The first album, The Better Life has sounds in the songs that are ‘’heavier’’ and ‘’stronger’’ than in Away from the Sun, which are smoother. But, it does not mean that a song is bad because it has less rhythm: the lyrics can be just as deep, even more than a ‘’hard song’’. Slow sounds in Away from the Sun gives us, in all of its songs, more time to think about them. Although, I find The Better Life a much more successful album for the sounds and basically because of the good rhythm of the sounds, they are not the only important things: the generality of the music is as well.
The entire music itself is important in albums. That is why Three Doors Down is the group I chose: I think their music may not be compared to others. In general, bands that make good music are popular. These albums, The Better life and Away from the Sun, are part of the same ‘’music category’’ despite the fact that they hide some musical differences. For example, like I said before, the rhythm and the sounds in the music are differences. Away from the Sun, in my opinion, has better music generality. Nothing makes it more popular though.
Popularity, is a fact in music that no one denies as important. When a band is popular, it’s much better for them. It is the same for their albums: an appreciated album will bring in more money AND popularity. The Better Life and Away from the Sun had almost as much popularity, but even if they were almost the same, The Better Life still earned more popularity and that is probably because of its songs. I think even if The Better Life was more popular, Away from the Sun was still very good.
in conclusion, The Better Life had better sounds; and more popularity, Away from the Sun had a better music. I will say just as many others that The Better Life was a better album.

Three Doors Down mini biography

Three doors down was created in Escatawpa, Mississippi around the 1990s. At that time, the band was composed of Brad Arnold, lead vocals; Matt Roberts, guitar and Todd Harrell bass. Soon, they added a guitarist: Chris Henderson and together they sold over 12 million albums across the world witch are: Seventeen Days; Three Doors Down; Away From The Sun; The Better Life.
They play only rock music. The band members were old friends from Escatawpa and are stayed to this style of music since now. Their name: Three Doors Down, comes from a building’s name that had falling letters. The building said: ‘’doors down’’ and since they were only three at that time, they decided to call themselves three doors down.
The group will continue to stay famous for a long time and their songs will stay popular, because a good band never gets forgotten
